Dermal Filler Injectables
What to Expect
At It Aesthetix, we use Hyaluronic Acid in our fillers, which occurs naturally in our bodies and helps keep our skin hydrated and full, giving a more youthful appearance.
Before your procedure, you may be asked to attend a short consultation to discuss your goals and desired outcomes of the treatment. This will help us find the best treatment solution for you. We advise that you avoid blood thinners, aspirins, and alcohol for at least 24 hours before your treatment to prevent any excess bruising.
Dermal filler injections are a quick and relatively painless process. Most appointments last 30-45 minutes depending on the number of treatments being performed. After evaluating your skin and discussing your desired results, your technician will use a small needle to place the filler gel in targeted areas under the skin. Some facial fillers are infused with lidocaine to reduce any discomfort during the injection, but topical numbing creams are available as well.
Once the treatment is finished and you are happy with your results, you are free to continue on with your day– no recovery time is required. Minor bruising and swelling can be expected after this procedure but will reduce throughout the day.
What can dermal fillers do for you?
Hyaluronic Acid fillers are a great option for first-time filler patients because they have a soft, natural look and can be partially or fully reversed if desired. Results typically last 6 months up to 2 years in most patients until your body naturally absorbs the particles.
Results can take up to 2 weeks to develop completely. Minor swelling and bruising around injection sites are normal during the healing process and will go away once fully healed.

Risks & Side Effects
Many patients experience minor swelling, bruising, and redness around injection sites shortly after their treatment. This should reduce within a few days, and you can expect to see the fully-healed results in about 2 weeks. If possible, avoid exercising and facial massages for 48 hours after your treatment to prevent the fillers from getting displaced.
Possible short-term side effects:
- Bruising
- Slight bleeding at injection site
- Minor swelling and redness around injection site
Possible long-term side effects:
- Filler migration
- Inflammation
- Infection
Hyaluronic Acid fillers have a low rate for long-term complications because they are naturally absorbed by our bodies over time. Most possible side effects are minor and only occur during the healing process.
