Is JUVÉDERM Right for Me?

JUVÉDERM fillers are an excellent choice for adults over age 21 who want to correct age-related volume loss or augment their lips or chin. It may not be suitable for patients undergoing therapy that reduces their body’s natural defense systems or patients taking medications that can prolong bleeding.

In most cases, side effects are minimal. Some patients report redness, pain, swelling, tenderness, bruising, itching, firmness, discoloration, or lumps and bumps, but these are usually temporary and resolve within a couple of weeks.

How much JUVÉDERM will I need?

Will JUVÉDERM hurt?

All dermal fillers can cause temporary and mild discomfort, but our team can apply a topical numbing cream upon request. Additionally, some JUVÉDERM products include lidocaine, which is a local anesthetic. While you may experience some tenderness or pain for a couple of days after your treatment, over-the-counter pain reducers can help.

Should I do anything to prepare for JUVÉDERM?

Avoid taking Non-steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) or Aspirin for at least five days before your procedure. You should also avoid certain supplements, including Vitamin A and E, fish oil, Ginseng, Ginkgo Biloba, and St. John’s Wart, for up to a week before your appointment. We also recommend you stop using glycolic acid, Tretinoin, or retinol products for at least two days. Do not consume alcohol for at least 48 hours before any injection treatment.
