Botox®

Botox® injections are a popular, noninvasive FDA-approved treatment for decreasing lines and wrinkles that develop from repeated facial muscle contractions. Known as a neuromodulator, Botox® works by blocking communication between the nerves and specific muscles in the face to help relax those areas. When injected by a well-trained, experienced professional, it can help smooth persistent lines, giving you a more youthful but still naturally expressive facial appearance.

Treatment Areas

Like all wrinkle-reducing injections, Botox® procedures only take a few minutes and are mostly painless. You will not need any anesthesia or downtime and can return to work and other normal activities immediately after treatment. However, you should abstain from strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours while the injections settle into place.

We believe everyone should feel confident in their appearance, and treatments like Botox® can help achieve that. Our team of surgically trained Physician Assistants understand the medical aspects of aesthetic treatments and work to ensure the best results for every patient. Botox® is commonly used in these areas:

  • Forehead lines
  • Glabellar lines (the “11s”)
  • Lateral canthal lines (the “crow’s feet”)
  • Upper and lower lip lines
  • Jawline
  • Neck

Other Treatment Options

Botox® is one of the most commonly known brands of wrinkle-reducing injections, but it’s not the only option. Here’s how it differs from other popular neuromodulators on the market:
Xeomin

Xeomin®

Unlike Botox®, Xeomin does not contain any stabilizing proteins, which means patients are less likely to develop a resistance. Patients who have begun noticing a decrease in the effectiveness of Botox® may switch to Xeomin.
dysport (1)

Dysport®

While other neuromodulators contain larger and slower-moving molecules, Dysport has a higher diffusion rate, which means it spreads faster and can cover a larger area. This makes it an ideal option for the forehead, while Botox® performs well on smaller areas.
jeuveau

Jeuveau®

Botox®, Xeomin®, and Dysport® were initially developed for medical treatments, but Jeuveau was created purely for aesthetic purposes. Some patients have reported quicker results, but this varies from person to person.

Is Botox® Right for Me?

Botox®is an excellent option for men and women over age 18 who want to significantly reduce facial lines and wrinkles. Botox® may not be suitable for people with muscle or nerve conditions or those on certain medications.

Side effects are minimal and usually resolve within a couple of days. Patients sometimes experience mild headaches after treatment, or temporary swelling, bruising, redness, or bleeding at the injection site.

The Beauty Benefits of Botox®

Every time we smile, squint, frown, or make other facial expressions, small muscles in our face contract. Habitual muscle contractions eventually create lines on our faces, especially as we age and lose skin elasticity. Botox® injections can relax those muscles without drastically changing your facial appearance. Patients typically begin to see results within 24 to 48 hours, and results last about four months.
